{Seoul, Part 7: Namsam Tower, Cat Cafe & Tax Refunds}

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7

Seoul is notoriously rainy in July, so we were worried that it would rain on the day we decided to visit Namsan/N-Seoul Tower, but thankfully, the clouds were on our side and kept it cloudy but not rainy for the whole day! We also went to Namdaemun and a cat cafe in Myeongdong on the same day; read on to be bombarded by more pictures of fluffy cats, you’ve been warned.

I’ll also be covering the process of getting a tax refund at the airport at the bottom of this post, so click on to find out more!

{Seoul, Part 6: JYP, SM, YG Ent.}

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7

This post is for all my fellow K-pop fans out there and contains directions to navigate your way to the various K-pop entertainment companies (JYP, FNC, YG), INFINITE’s Hapjeong dorm, and I’ll also feature a wonderful shopping paradise – COEX Mall, plus loads of pictures of SM Town Land/SMTOWN@coexartium.

I visited JYP Ent, SMTOWN@coexartium and Coex Mall in one day, and went to YG Ent the following day. These places are a mecca of sorts for us K-pop fans, so if your itinerary has a blank spot, why not make a ‘pilgrimage’  to the very buildings the idols work and train in?

{Seoul, Part 5: Gyeongbokgung Palace & Insadong}

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 Part 7

Wow, we’re at Part 5 already, looks like this Seoul series is going to take forever to blog about. Anyway, in this post, I’ll be showing you the many sights of Gyeongbokgung Palace as well as the shopping in the traditional Insadong district. Oh, and I also watched a musical, “All Shook Up” on that day as well, more on that later!

{Seoul, Part 4: Hongdae, Edae, SBS, KBS & MBC }

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6Part 7

In today’s post, I’ll be showing you around the various Korean broadcasting stations (MBC, SBS, KBS), Korea’s very own walk of fame, as well as the shopping highlights of university districts Hongdae and Edae! This is one of the parts I’ve been excited to write about, because the Korean entertainment industry is the main reason why I fell in love with Korea and its culture, and the ever trendy Hongdae (and its many backpacker hostels) is the ultimate hangout for youths and travellers alike.

{Seoul, Part 3: Dongdaemun, IFC Mall & Times Square}

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6Part 7

In this post, I’ll be reviewing the most commonly visited shopping areas in Seoul and recommending the best route to visit all these places in 1 day if you’re an insane shopaholic (like myself). We’ll be covering Dongdaemun, Itaewon, IFC Mall and Times Square in this part. 🙂

Day 3

We covered the wholesale markets in Dongdaemun, went to the more modern malls in the vicinity of Doota and also went to Itaewon. It was a terribly damp day with a near-constant drizzle which became a downpour by evening, but that’s what you get for going in July, their rainy season. We made a second trip to Dongdaemun on Day 9 for more shopping under better weather conditions, which I’ll cover in the later half of this post.

{Seoul, Part 2: Everland, Myeongdong Food & K-Beauty Review}

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6Part 7

Day 2

The day prior to our Everland visit, we reserved 3 tickets with Daesung tours (click for more details) over the phone, which included the entry to Everland plus a free 2-way shuttle bus from Myeongdong that very morning. We woke up bright and early, because the shuttle bus was due to pick us up from Myeongdong at 9.30AM. We paid for our tickets in cash before boarding the bus, then off we were to Yongin Everland!!

Picture spam ahead, you’ve been warned.

{Seoul, Part 1: Our Itinerary + Myeongdong shopping}

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6Part 7

I’ve always wanted to document my many travel adventures but never did get around to doing it, so I’ve finally decided to make the effort to write about my itinerary in Seoul, how to get around on the subway and share some of the pictures I took there (wow, so much effort!!). Hopefully the information I’m sharing here will help at least 1 other soul on the internet to plan their dream vacation to Korea! 🙂

I’m a massive K-pop/K-drama fan and I’ve also taught myself Korean, so the destination I chose for my last vacation before starting med school was naturally Korea, the country that I had grown to love through a screen. This was my second time in Korea, the first being a ski trip when I was younger, but this time, I wanted to experience Seoul in the summer and be able to buy clothes I could wear in the forever-tropical Singapore.

Warning: I’m a major shopaholic, so most of the itinerary involves shopping, as opposed to visiting historical sites or scenic places. And I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m a massive K-pop fan; I visited JYP, YG and SM-COEX during my trip, stayed at Kyuhyun’s (SuJu, though I’m not an ELF) family guesthouse, as well as watched Sunggyu’s (INFINITE) musical. We also visited the broadcasting stations (SBS, KBS, MBC) and some malls that y’all might recognise from Running Man.

This itinerary isn’t for the faint of heart; my family clocked over 12km of walking per day just covering these few places, but our shopping haul was totally worth the subsequent foot pain. And the itinerary was planned by location, so that we would minimise travelling time and maximise our exploration of a certain area each day (and by exploration, I really just mean eating and shopping).
